Her advice to others falling on hard times is to "try new things, put in some effort and follow your dreams", adding: "My proudest achievement is that I'm very qualified at the moment - I can do things on my own."

She even helped designer wholesale Chicago White Sox Hats Noel Stewart with preparations for London Fashion Week, and is now looking to start her own hat-making business.

Since then she has completed a course at Kensington and Chelsea College and won work experience placements with some of London's leading milliners.
